In this extension with an outdoor pool of an existing swimming-bath block, routing of spectators and male and female swimmers was paid special attention. This design was a golden opportunity to put into practice ideas then current on hygiene and orientation to the sun. The tenous, functional architecture, here and there inspired by ship-building, is most suited to a swimming-pool, the conglomeration of attachments and ancillary volumes contrasting all the more with its older, static companion.
