Special accommodation
This complex of assisted living units is constructed as three perimeter blocks, the first of which was built in 2004. This rectangular volume, part two-storey part three-storey, assembles 35 units round a central courtyard. A roof tilting in two directions stitches the two- and three-storey portions together. The main entrance to the courtyard is located where these two parts converge. A distinctive feature of the complex is its inversion of the customary relationship between public and private. The courtyard design is formal and taut with tranquil facades and all-round galleries from where all units are accessed. The external facades by contrast are informally modelled with a variation in balconies, loggias and gardens.
