The main block and low-rise dwellings of this old-age home surround a communal garden. Corridors to the residential units issue from a central hall on all floors. As Structuralism receded as a stepping-off point for form and design, Hertzberger's architecture gravitated more towards an up-to-date version of the New Objectivity. Inside, however, such familiar themes as personal expression and advancement of social contact still prevail in corners and at stairs.
