Combining a professor's house with lecture rooms and laboratories, these early buildings for the Agricultural University are unmistakably the work of the Amsterdam School. The expressive curves of the exterior, earning both buildings the nickname 'The Ship', make way indoors for a strikingly objective subdivision of spaces. The buildings are decorated with exotic-Cubist sculptures by Johan Polet, evidence of Blaauw's keen interest in integrating sculpture in architecture.
