The most remarkable thing about this self-service department store of more than 10,000 m2 sales space is its loadbearing structure. Y-shaped columns using a grid of 12 x 18.6 m. are connected by steel lattice girders from which are suspended curved corrugated steel sections. All services are integrated within structural elements: columns contain rainwater pipes, the main girder further acts as a service shaft, and so on.
The building was substantially rebuilt. |
