An important early work by Verhoeven is his own house and studio. Symmetrical over the diagonal, its plan is based on a system of square patterns. The two principal spaces, the living room and studio, are emphasized by a pair of pyramid-shaped roofs. Its use of untreated materials and the geometric parti would reappear in three housing projects on Kyftenbeltlaan (1968, 1971) and Laantje van Hilhorst (1975).
