OMA’s second Dutch villa sits on an uneven site studded with conifers. The brief called for a permanent living area for the parents and a ‘guesthouse’ for three non-resident daughters. This division finds expression in two distinct single-storey volumes: an elevated glazed block of living rooms around a central sleeping cum patio block for the parents and set further along its axis a sunken ‘motel’ for the daughters. The entrance and a ramp occupy the dividing line between the two components. The roof of the ‘motel’ doubles as a garden for the parents’ house.
