CONSERVATORY MAASTRICHT
P.H. DINGEMANS, 1961-1965
Bonnefantenstraat 15, Maastricht
ARCHITECT(URAL OFFICE): Piet Dingemans BUILDING TYPE: Buildings for education PUBLICATIONS: Bouw 1967 p. 748
The fanciful plan, volume and sloping roof were all inspired by the old flour mill, since demolished, across the river. The local red brick, the stone cladding of the concrete frame and the blue slate roof are all characteristic of timber-framing in the Limburg region. The ground floor contains the entrance, lecturers' rooms and triple-height concert hall, the upper floors tuition rooms of various shapes and sizes and the basement a recording studio and rehearsal rooms.
