WATER TOWER SCHIMMERT
J.J. WIELDERS, 1926-1927, Torenstraat / De Bockhofweg, Schimmert
Set in a rolling landscape and furnished with expressive curves, this striking water tower is the only built example in Amsterdam School style. The architects of this movement took a great interest in this building type (De Klerk, for instance, who in 1912 published a design for a water tower) for the simple reason that appearances are everything in what is otherwise a largely technical project.
