The most characteristic part of an existing school building was retained, while the demolished section was replaced by an extension consisting of two volumes, one semicircular and one rectangular, each containing four new classrooms. Between these volumes is an element familiar from other schools by Hertzberger - a double-height hall laid out like a theatre. The semicircular facade, oriented towards where two roads intersect and clad in black horizontal planking, is attuned in form and, remarkably enough, in colour to the setting.
