This complex embraces various forms of communal living. Standing literally on the perimeter of the bombed-out area, it constitutes in scale and siting a transition from 19th-century housing to modern city centre. The high-rise dwellings are reached from access galleries, one per three storeys. Living and communal spaces are linked internally by stairs placed breadthways. The curved block of dwellings above shops has a porch entrance.
