Landscape architecture

This park is a long green sliver lying along the northern rim of the Rotterdam overspill area of Zevenkamp. It took this form at the express wish of the neighbouring municipality of Zevenhuizen. A welter of functions - sports fields, meadows, woods, nature garden, stables and personal allotments - are strung together like a bead necklace. Though each is self-sufficient, the components are unified by a system of avenues and water figures. Talks with those living close to the park resulted in much of the existing landscape structure being retained. The area of meadowland, for example, has been incorporated virtually intact. The new infills and planting likewise exploit elements of the original landscape.
