Museums and exhibition buildings

This museum is situated at one of the town's key points, where two major boulevards meet at Leuvehaven. Its basic structure is one half of a square bisected along the diagonal with its oblique side towards the harbour. Half tucked in under this side is a double-height exhibition area. Steel ramps lead to an upper level containing exhibition spaces, a library and a roof terrace overlooking the harbour. In 2004 the museum was enlarged, keeping to its original style. In 2010 the entrance lobby has been radically changed.
Ossip Zadkine's sculpture 'Destroyed City' stands in the square between the museum and De Coopvaert apartment building.
