BUILDING TYPE:
Freestanding houses

This outbuilding has been added to a farming estate already containing a farmhouse and a private residence. Built on existing foundations, it does duty as storage space and an office. On the ground floor of this multifunctional barn are a carport and a roofed terrace separated by a storeroom and wet service capsule. A stair set breadthways accesses a single large space below the roof that serves as a fashion studio and showroom. The north side of the barn is substantially blank. The all-wood kinked volume has a traditional oakwood truss structure clad in western red cedar. A rooflight and a window in the end elevation are taken up in the timber cladding.
