The Nationaal Muziekkwartier music and theatre venue in Enschede comprises a music theatre seating 1001, two pop/rock venues with audience capacities of 700 and 300, a pop café, a school of music with 11 practice rooms, a ballet studio and foyer and office space. The three halls are separated acoustically but linked spatially by a foyer space, enveloped in horizontal slats, that they can share or use individually. A continuous wall 150 metres long with a mural by Petra Blaisse stitches it all together. A sculptural double-curved copper roof above the public zone accompanies the route from the station to the city centre.
