This old-age block for the mentally and physically handicapped consists of housing, a convalescent home and a nursing home. Four wings of dwelling units join at a large central encounter area. The 'encounter' principle determines the division into corridors ('inner streets'), widenings ('squares') and encounter area ('village square'). A constructional system of precast concrete elements and variable degrees of glazing allows occupants to inject something of their own personality. Part of the complex has been renovated by Wytze Patijn.
