The office in Kerkstraat of the Soeters Van Eldonk architectural practice incorporates a converted church, three historical premises and five storeys of new-build. The brick facade of the former Martin Luther King Chapel of 1967 is wrapped in corrugated aluminium sheet and topped with a high-techy cornice. Applying the corrugated sheet part horizontally and part vertically, bringing out the diagonal joins and sinking the windows deep, together generate a refined play of light and shadow. The new-build part has a facade assembled from slender classical columns, grouped in threes and twos or singly, and stepped cornices. The entrance is in the converted houses.
