BUILDING TYPE:
Monumental art

This art work seeks to draw together the two worlds of the motorway and the residential area. The embankment separates them, the pavilion unites them. The Observatorium combines a hortus conclusus set square to the embankment with an exhibition pavilion and a tall skeletal structure serving as an observation point. The enclosed garden consists of used asphalt planted with black grass. Pavilion and scaffolding are constructed from guard railing, mounted both horizontally and vertically as slats on a steel frame. These two materials, asphalt and guard railing, effectively draw the motorway into the park.
