ARCHITECT(URAL OFFICE):
Frits Peutz

ARTIST:
Charles Vos

BUILDING TYPE:
Freestanding houses
Self-designed houses

The architect's house cum office consists of two interlocking rectangular volumes linked by a stair-tower. The ground floor contains the practice, the first floor the living quarters and the second and third floors the bedrooms. Although the house looks subdued and objective enough in plan, elevation and detail, the column in the side wall bearing aloft Charles Vos's relief The Goat Rider (the name given members of bands of robbers in 18th century Limburg) is a foretaste of Peutz's later assimilation of historical architectural styles in Heerlen Town Hall.
