STOCKBROKER'S OFFICE

The narrow premises combine a stockbroker's office with a small top-floor apartment. A void containing the staircase in the central zone delivers daylight deep into the building. The stair swings 45 degrees back and forth between the split-level floors. The facade is built up of layers of sand-coloured and turquoise granite and surmounted by a pediment. This combination of Classical forms and materials and ultramodern mirror-glass and gaudy colours inserted into a traditional urban elevation is audacious and has not gone uncriticized.
