STATION NAARDEN-BUSSUM
H.G.J. SCHELLING, 1925-1928, Stationsweg 3, Bussum
In its early use of flat roofs and concrete, Naarden-Bussum Station signifies a radical break with all earlier railway station architecture. Schelling's preference for square measurement systems and the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright is clearly visible in the horizontal build-up of facades and free linking of rectangular blocks. The carefully detailed main hall is lit by a large square lattice window above the entrance and high vertical lights in the side elevations.
