The winning design in a limited competition, this new town hall is the cornerstone of a revivified town centre. lts concrete structure is finished in light-grey glazed brick, which in the heads is configured in a diamond-shaped pattern. Perched on the uppermost level are the council chamber giving directly onto the gallery, and the wedding room. This is set as far away from the entrance as possible, affording the bridal procession a long and festive route. The free-standing tower is a jigsaw puzzle in concrete; puncturings in the walls are there to benefit the acoustics of the carillon.
