Le Corbusier's influence on Dutch architecture has never been that great, if direct stylistic quotes are anything to go by. One exception is this school which exhibits quite a range of Corbusian references, most notably the sculptural concrete pilotis supporting the building, the concrete 'brise-soleil' set before the facade glazing and the roof garden straight out of the Unité d'Habitation at Marseilles. The built elements on this roof serve no collective purpose in themselves, being the voids of the canteen and gymnasium thrusting through the roof from the upper floor.
