Vilmos Huszár received many commissions for interiors of buildings by architect friends of his including Wils, Rietveld and Oud, but also worked for others not allied to De Stijl such as Van der Kloot Meijburg, Van Moorsel and, most particularly, Diederik Visser. In 1927, Visser worked with Strijen’s municipal architect D.H. Lammers on a new municipal hall for that village. Huszár designed the large windows of colourful leaded glasswork in the council chamber and probably prescribed the colours of the walls, woodwork and furniture. This makes him largely responsible for ‘the hall’s modern style, a symbol of the new age,’ as the building was described when it was opened. These days it houses offices.
