Sited on a hillock, this tea house spirals upwards around a tree growing through the open central portion. On entering, visitors follow a gentle slope through three restaurant areas to end up in a cantilevering sun lounge with a view of the surrounding countryside. Kitchen, toilets and other amenities are housed in the basement. The two levels above are connected by an artificial moraine boulder containing a stair and lift. Apart from the facades, which are almost entirely of glass, the pavilion is dominated by natural materials such as untreated wood frames, a supporting framework of tree trunks and a ceiling of woodchips.
