This extension to Zwolle Town Hall takes its place between two restored older buildings. Its office facades have a vertical structure of glazing and loadbearing concrete piers clad in ceppo di gré, a type of stone from Northern Italy. The council chamber behind the spiky frontage has a sawtooth roof supported by laminated timber beams. Roofs are otherwise hyperbolic paraboloids. This uncompromising infill in a historical setting has received much criticism, though mainly levelled at its size.
