Van der Steur's town theatre of 1918 has a classical, symmetric parti. It has been rigorously refurbished inside and given a new entrance in the lower ground floor. A new fly tower has been added at the rear. To get the gigantic new volume in balance with the received building, the facades tilt six degrees and accord in material and decoration with the existing architecture. They are brick clad and provided with vertical strips of varying length in decorative ceramic tiles of blue-green and turquoise, porcelain ornaments and screen-printed glass.
