This ‘pop cluster’ has three concert halls, a large one for up to 2200 visitors and two smaller ones. To these it adds practice rooms, a musicians’ information desk, a foyer and bar and a large basement parking space for bikes. The main hall has a public floor that steps up from the stage to ensure a good view from the back. Circulation routes threading between the three venues double as soundproofing; the double skin of the external walls and roof keeps the sound inside the building. A curious feature is the external quilted cladding of black rubber with CDs marking the points of attachment. The pop cluster links arms with a parking facility built earlier, taking over the latter’s steel sheathing on the park side.
