PRIVATE HOUSE VAN DIJK
H.W. SALOMONSON, 1960-1962, Treeswijklaan 1, Waalre
Built for a director of Philips, the house is set in a thickly wooded area on an artificial pool. It consists of a two-storey oblong section with a lowrise block intersecting it at righ tangles, giving a cruciform plan. The lowrise section contains the garage, a roofed entrance area, and a vestibule with circular stair, linked to which is the dining room. The freedom and openness of its modernism is set off by luxury facilities, all sorts of gadgetry, and such fashionable materials as travertine and dear-finished Oregon pine.
