ARCHITECT(URAL OFFICE):
Wim den Boon

BUILDING TYPE:
Freestanding houses

Wim den Boon (1912-1968) was trained as an interior designer and designed mainly furniture and interiors. He was also on the editorial board of Goed Wonen. He made a few designs for private houses, some in the realms of fantasy and some that have been built. One side of this house stands in the water with a large window of 2.26 by 2.26 metres on that side. These Modulor proportions are a nod to Le Corbusier, as are the curved ceilings. The street side by contrast is substantially blank. There is a void at the centre of the house with a large square window set in it.
