Major changes are afoot in the Digna Johanna quarter, the oldest part in the northwest of Hoogvliet. De Condor, a residential building inspired by the spread wings of this South American bird of prey, makes the transition to the new park area. Its six storeys of owner-occupied and rented apartments stand on concrete columns allowing a wide view through of the park beyond. Each floor has eight apartments, reached from a central hall where the 'wings' converge. Viewed on plan, De Condor has round corners only. An unbroken succession of balconies and galleries envelops the building.
