Urban plans

Here, a central zone containing small blocks of housing is screened on one side by a pair of two-storey car parks along Foppingadreef and on the other by a 300 metre long housing block five storeys high. Four- and five-room units in the long block are reached mainly from a central corridor on the second floor and consist of an entry zone and bedrooms on the corridor level with a living/sleeping level either above or below. This first attempt at something completely different within the large-scale architecture of Bijlmermeer brought with it the inevitable social problems.
