This development of 36 freely stacked up-market residences is a Chinese puzzle of interlocking volumes with as much open space as mass. This semi-public unbuilt space is a key element of the design and has been scrupulously crafted and detailed. All building volumes, which are timber clad on all their external faces, have their entrances in a glazed courtyard with a sheltered transitional climate between outside and inside. The ground plane comprises a water garden that begins indoors and is shot through with timber walkways and terrace decks. The whole sits on an underground parking facility.
