Three young architects who had met at Richard Meier's office in New York, made maximum dwelling flexibility the credo of their winning entry to the competition whose title translates as 'Build differently, dwell differently'. The design stacks 28 narrow maisonettes together in a block, their upper storeys curtailed to carve out voids on both facades. At the heart of each maisonette are the stairs, the kitchen and the washroom, the one enclosed space. The timber facades present a neutral grid. The building has been demolished in april 2009!
