Weeda's blue-black brickwork block with expressive balconies terminates one side of a neighbourhood square in the urban renewal area
het Oude Westen, the opposite side ending at a perimeter block that includes a Turkish bathhouse, picked out by a rounded roof. The housing by De Nijl occupies a long, narrow site and comprises two rows of houses about a raised courtyard. A striking lift shaft cum stair tower marks the transition between the new development and three retained properties.
