Rien de Ruiter
The 230 units in this chunky city block assemble round a garden court. The street level has been kept free for retail and entrances by locating the necessary parking facilities partly underground and partly on the first floor. Two double-height entrance porticoes stand at two diagonally opposite corners. The building's height and massing take account of the Laurenskerk next door, for example the three uppermost storeys of penthouses and large terraces are set back from the facade line. The first eight storeys have a cladding of greyish-orange brick and a gently repeating pattern of ribbon windows.
