This High Tech Campus concentrates all the research departments of the Philips concern. Laboratories and office buildings by JHK and Inbo stand in a rural setting surrounded by services. The whole is predicated on individual freedom and creativity among the 8000 employees and the synergy between the various disciplines. The only thing missing from the campus is housing, as a serious interweaving of work and private life was regarded as undesirable. All the same, there is a crèche in one corner of the grounds. The elongated central building, De Strip designed by JHK, consists of five transparent components below a single large curving roof. These contain restaurants, conference and meeting facilities, a sports hall and such amenities as a hairdresser's, a bank branch and convenience stores.
