Aldo van Eyck
Based on an urban design master plan by Aldo van Eyck, who in a later phase should have built a cultural centre in the district, the architects realised in these former factory grounds surrounded by water several housing blocks. The first phase consists of two fan-shaped residential tower blocks in nine levels and two gently curving perimeter blocks in five levels. The transparent urban layout is maintained in the second phase. The balconies which are either setback or jut out and an undulating roof line give the blocks an informal air.
