Standing on the site of a former army barracks, this housing scheme proceeds from a plan by Atelier PRO featuring a semi-open relationship with the water. A major component of the plan is six residential towers partly freestanding and partly assimilated in a perimeter block. The practice invited the above six foreign architects to provide the architecture for a tower apiece. These designs were then further fleshed out by Atelier pro and considerably toned down in places. The result has a thoroughly un-Dutch gaiety, even though all that is left of the invited architects' original intentions is often little more than the two dimensions of a facade.
