This bank, which Duintjer designed after winning a competition, is still the bête noire of discussions about new-build in the old town owing to its size and isolated position. The low-rise portion of 100 x 110 m. has two courtyards. Below it are two underground levels of parking space including a fall-out shelter and the strong rooms. The high-rise slab tapers 2 cm. per storey. The ensemble has been extended with a circular office tower by J. Abma.
