ARCHITECT(URAL OFFICE):
Hugh Maaskant

BUILDING TYPE:
Housing
Shops

This elongated block on Groenendaal combines six storeys of dwellings with a basement level of shops. The top floor is set back slightly and also stops short of the ends of the block. A central entrance in the centre of the building leads through to the lift tower at the rear, which is also where the access galleries are. Here too is a service road, reached through two gateways in two small less-tall blocks set square to the principal mass. This building is a good example of the functional but by no means shabby architecture Maaskant was producing at that time.
