This residential development of 44 street-access houses in 12 types and 124 apartments in 48 types stands at a magnificent location along the river IJssel. The plan, which interweaves the great scale of the river landscape with the old structure of the town centre beyond, divides into three parts: a row of dyke apartments curving with the bend in the river with bays that look out over the landscape; a string of Amsterdam-style canal houses with point gables on the side to the old town centre; and a 12-storey tower block that makes reference to old fortress towers. The architecture is an offbeat mix of classicist and traditional elements.
