This early example of dwellings built in accordance with the Housing Act of 1901 is also ground-breaking in urbanistic terms. Enclosing a communal courtyard, the complex opens up the short sides of the traditional perimeter block to the street. This makes it an early example of row housing, a concept to be developed further by the functionalists.
